Lobo Instant Soup Powder & Chinese Herbal Set
A cooking set combining savoury soup seasoning with Chinese-style herbs and spices. It is designed for a simmered meat soup rather than an instant cup of soup. The listed spice mixture includes Chinese yam, Solomon’s seal, goji berry, pepper and star anise.
Flavour and composition
The manufacturer lists a 56% spice mixture. This is a culinary seasoning set; no health or therapeutic effect is claimed.
Preparation
- For one 38 g retail pack, add the contents to approximately 1.5 litres of water and bring to the boil.
- Add about 500 g of cleaned, cut-up beef. Boil for around five minutes and remove foam.
- Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for two to three hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Discard the herb bag before serving, following the label.
Beef shank and other cuts suited to slow cooking work well. Meat, water and any optional vegetables must be supplied separately. Do not prepare all three retail packs together using the quantities for one pack.
