L’Oréal Paris Elseve Extraordinary Oil All Hair Types is a flexible leave-in finishing serum for lengths that need softness, smoother handling and visible shine. The original-style Extraordinary Oil story centres on a blend of flower-derived ingredients within a lightweight cosmetic serum. Use it when your hair is freshly washed, before styling, or when the ends need a little attention between washes.

Inside the oil-serum

Isododecane forms part of the light-spreading base, alongside caprylic/capric triglyceride and dicaprylyl ether. Dimethicone and dimethiconol create slip over the hair surface, helping rough lengths feel smoother. Trimethylsiloxysilicate contributes a film-forming component. Coconut oil, sunflower oil, squalane and sea-buckthorn seed oil are listed alongside chamomile, lotus, linseed, gardenia and rose-derived ingredients. The blend is therefore more than a single plant oil: its finish comes from the interaction of emollients, silicones and botanical ingredients.

The aim is hair that feels softer and easier to arrange, with a polished rather than greasy appearance when applied sparingly. “All Hair Types” describes the product’s broad positioning; fine hair generally needs less product than thick or coarse lengths. It contains fragrance and ingredients such as limonene, isoeugenol, farnesol and citral, so it is not a fragrance-free option.

How to use

  1. Dispense a small amount into your palms and rub the hands together gently.
  2. Distribute through the lengths and ends, adding gradually where the hair needs more softness.
  3. Leave in for styling, finishing or overnight care. L’Oréal Paris also describes a pre-shampoo application as one way to use this versatile oil.

For a complete wash-day routine, cleanse and condition first, then apply the oil as the finishing step. Avoid contact with the eyes; rinse immediately with clean water if contact occurs.
