L’Oréal Paris Elseve Total Repair 5 Repairing Conditioner is the softening, detangling step for damaged-looking hair that feels dry, rough or difficult to manage. It follows shampoo with a creamy rinse-out formula, targeting the range’s five visible care concerns: a healthier appearance, moisture, shine, softness and the look of damaged ends. It is especially useful when the lengths feel coarse after cleansing.

Formula and texture

Cetearyl alcohol and cetyl esters create a softening cream base. Behentrimonium chloride and cetrimonium chloride supply conditioning slip that helps detangling. Amodimethicone smooths the feel of the hair surface, while arginine and serine add amino-acid ingredients to the formula. The complete list also includes 2-oleamido-1,3-octadecanediol, a ceramide-like conditioning lipid.

The range uses KERATINxs technology language, but the INCI for this conditioner does not list hydrolyzed keratin. Its practical purpose is cosmetic conditioning: softer, smoother hair that is easier to comb and looks better cared for. It does not permanently mend split ends. The formula is fragranced and lists limonene, linalool, benzyl salicylate, citronellol and other fragrance-related ingredients.

How to use

  1. After shampooing, apply to wet hair throughout the lengths and ends.
  2. Spread the cream evenly so rougher sections receive care, adjusting the amount to your hair’s length and thickness.
  3. Rinse thoroughly. Dry and style gently, avoiding vigorous rubbing of wet lengths.

Use after washing as the conditioner in a Total Repair 5 routine. If you choose the range’s Filler Repairing Mask for a richer treatment, follow that product’s separate one-minute rinse-out directions. Keep conditioner out of the eyes; rinse immediately with clean water if contact occurs.
